Tips for a Sober / Mindful Christmas

Tips for a Sober / Mindful Christmas

1. Make a Game Plan: Decide what events you’ll attend and have a backup plan if you need a breather. Leaving early or skipping events that don’t align with your goals is totally okay.

2. Bring Your Favorite Drinks: Pack some alcohol-free favorites, so you’re never stuck with pop. You might even inspire someone else to try something new!

3. Set Your Intentions: Before heading out, take a moment to remind yourself why staying sober, or mindful matters to you. A quick journal entry or mindful pause can help keep your goals front and center.

4. Lean on Your People: Reach out to friends or family who get where you’re coming from. If you’re in a online community (hopefully The Afters | Hangover Free Club), check in with your group.

5. Get into New Festive Fun — Instead of thinking FOMO, think JOYMO - Joy of Missing Out. Make new fun memories, without the hangover. Look for sober meet ups, craft with friends, fresh winter walks, and embrace the early mornings. Shift your mindset.

6. Be Kind to Yourself: If things don’t go perfectly, let it go. Learn from it, reset, and keep moving forward. Progress, not perfection, is what counts.
